Jonathan Turley Condemns Dems and Anti-Trumpers For Threats Against Trump Lawyers, and Media For Supporting It

President Donald Trump and his team have the legal right to pursue any irregularities or fraud that they see in court or through proper Constitutional channels as they have been doing.

But we’ve not only seen the troubling narratives being pushed by the media that he doesn’t have that right or that availing himself of that right is somehow improper, despite the fact that these same people had no issues with Al Gore pursuing legal questions in 2000.

But that’s not the only problem. We’ve seen folks on the left and anti-Trump people actually threatening people because of this.
Wayne County, Michigan GOP canvassers who saw issues in what they were examining refused to certify the election initially but were then threatened into going along with the certification.

They are even trying to deny Trump his legal options and legal counsel by threatening lawyers if they continue to represent him. We saw Lincoln Project go after Trump lawyers such as Porter Wright, who then did in fact withdraw from representing Trump.

On top of that, as we reported, Democrat Rep. Bill Pascarell (D-NJ) is trying to get any of the lawyers representing Trump, the campaign or the Republican Party disbarred for bringing the cases, claiming that they are frivolous.

While most of left has failed to condemn these tactics, liberal law professor Jonathan Turley is calling them out for just how wrong this all is.

At the same time, Democratic leaders like Michigan’s Attorney General Dana Nessel have threatened criminal prosecution against those who have posted videos alleging voting fraud and even threatened possible prosecution of legislators who meet with President Trump or raise challenges to the election results. The media is virtually silent on these threats to coerce lawyers and legislators into silence. That is not viewed as a threat to the rule of law. The threats against lawyers follows a pattern where Democratic members are calling for blacklists and others denounce any questioning of the Biden victory as akin to “Holocaust denial.” I spoke last week to Republican lawyers who described death threats, doxxing, and continual harassment for their representation in these lawsuits. The message is that if you represent the wrong side you will be denounced, doxxed, and disbarred.

Turley also chastised Bill Pascarell for undermining our rule of law with his actions.

What Pascrell is doing is undermining our legal system by using his office to advance a campaign targeting lawyers and legislators who raise objections to his party prevailing in the presidential election. As with the Lincoln Project’s campaign, this is raw retaliation and intimidation to deter the use of our legal process. When such actions were taken against lawyers representing civil rights groups and others in the 1960s, it was correctly denounced as an outrageous abuse of our legal system. Now that Republican lawyers are being targeted, it has become a campaign supported members of Congress, thousands of lawyers, and the media.

What Pascrell is doing is a dangerous form of demagoguery that should be denounced by people of good-faith regardless of their political affiliations.

But unfortunately, the media and Democrats not only haven’t called out such tactics, but they’ve often joined in the onslaught themselves. This has resulted in some of these folks receiving death threats. Lincoln Project even put lawyers and judges on a list for the mere sin of being appointed by Trump and suggested that they not only should be denied jobs but should not be accepted in “polite society.” Media treats Trump as though he’s breaking norms but then treats these threats as though they are normal or even laudatory.

Thank you, Professor Turley, for having principles and condemning these attacks on our system. Everyone should be denouncing such threats and attacks.
